How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

  • I believe that my ancillary texts and video are very clearly linked as they follow the same dark style theme and have clear links between footage that is shown in the actual video and the narrative from my music video.
  • By using clips and stills from the video as well as photographs from my iPad (to show the relationship between the two characters) have allowed me to effectively link my music video with the ancillary texts, especially the magazine advert and the CD with are made up of a montage of clips and pictures that feature in the actual video.
  • I feel that the use of dark colours and fading on the digipak means that it combines and links effectively with the video to tell the audience the mood of my video. I used dark colours and fading in both the video and the ancillary texts to show that the video is meant to be on a sad topic and that it is actually quiet a dark video as appose to a happier story line. However, because my narrative is cut up i feel that the audience may be confused about the actual story line of the video and therefore may not understand how the ancillary texts link into it.
  • My finished video and ancillary texts are very different to my original planning. My ancillary texts don't look at all like the original drawings that i did as i felt that they did not have any clear links to the video so decided to go for a design that was possibly not as clever or difficult to achieve but would link more effectively to the video and the story line.
